A57 Hyde Road Breakdown: East Manchester Driver's Guide

Greater Tow Services

2026-03-02

The A57 Hyde Road is one of East Manchester's busiest arterial routes, connecting the city centre with Tameside and Cheshire. Our Gorton depot provides fast response to A57 breakdowns around the clock.

The A57 Hyde Road begins in central Manchester at the A6 junction near Piccadilly and runs east through Gorton, Denton, Hyde, and Mottram before crossing into Derbyshire via Longdendale. It is one of the longest continuously built-up A-roads in Greater Manchester and carries a mix of commuter traffic, local retail journeys, and trans-Pennine freight. Our Gorton depot at 140 Buckley Road, M18 7QX, is positioned on a road directly adjacent to the A57 corridor.

Inner City to M60 Section

The section of the A57 from Piccadilly to the M60 at junction 24 passes through some of East Manchester's most densely populated areas, including Gorton, Openshaw, and Denton. Traffic is consistently heavy on this section during commuting hours, and our Gorton team is familiar with every junction, bus lane, and access restriction. Response times on this section are typically 10–20 minutes from our Buckley Road depot.

East of the M60: Denton to Hyde

East of the M60 junction 24, the A57 becomes a different road in character — more suburban, with lower traffic density but still significant commercial vehicle use. Denton, Hyde, and the approaches to Mottram-in-Longdendale are all within our regular attendance area. Response times to Hyde from Gorton are typically 25–35 minutes. The A57 at Mottram and beyond into the Peak District approaches is at the outer edge of our area, and we advise callers in these locations to confirm their position when calling.
